Democracy, where is it for me?

Last week’s revelations about two former Home Secretaries included Jack Straw’s comments above. This got me thinking about two things. How on earth can we claim this is a democracy when two-thirds of our legislative process is unelected, in the Monarch and the House of Lords? Secondly how any business influence over legislation has to be inherently bad, as selfish interests shouldn’t influence public decisions. Continue reading
